So, women of the world. Or at least women of the United States. Here’s another caution for those of us seeking to buy or sell a house - er, home. Everyone hears the extreme rhetoric abouthow the real estate market is in a crash. It’s a buyer’s market. Prices are falling. Values have plummeted. The real estate bubble burst, oh, I dunno, about a year ago or so.

The people who do not understand that this has happened are untrained, inexperienced real estate agents and…sellers.

What’s happening. Sellers are often being

Don’t get nervous - I’m not turning WomenDayByDay into a sleazy sex site. I chose to revisit this mini-review since summer reading is such fun.

This series of books is one that I’ve followed for a few years. Let’s face it, women, many of us enjoy appealing to our own prurient interests from time to time. Sex is fun. When practiced safely, sex is just about a perfect way to release stress. But sometimes, in the day-by-day rat race of life, it can be - shall we say - challenging to get up the steam needed for a phenomenally sexy encounter. Even an encounter with your own self.

So Editor Violet Blue (I suspect her mother didn’t name her that - it has the very ring of a pen name) has gathered a selection of erotica for us. It’s published by Cleis Press of California and sold as a paperback - the best format for sexy books.

Early on in the series, these were almost bosum heavers - a lot of innuendo and heavy breathing leading up to the scene you really want to read and then sort of fizzling out before any one actually touches anything of any import.

Now, not every story is a literary gem - you want literary, read Madame Bovary. I won’t guarantee every story will titillate every woman (no pun intended here). But they are erotic and there’s a lot of variety.

I guess what I will guarantee is that somewhere in this volume, or the earlier ones, you’ll find one little story that will set your panties on fire and send you off in the direction of your significant other for a glorious afternoon, evening or even morning romp.

There’s something for every taste - sodomy, dominance, lesbian encounters - all pure fantasy fodder. If you’re really finicky, heavily religious, or grow weak and swoon at the sight of a penis, a pussy or anything leather - pass on these books and find something else to read.

And if you’re looking for satisfying prose - some of these pieces fill that niche, but in general, there is another niche to be filled.

Attention active military women, women vets, or families with women in the military–there’s a very helpful Web site for you, and it’s open to anyone who wishes to particpate. Called MilitaryWoman.org, it is positively jam-packed with useful information and a terrific forum. Unfortuneately, it looks like the site stopped posting new material a while back, but the stuff in the archives is still good.

Hop on over there and get what you need or want. Moms - if your daughter is military, this site may help preserve your sanity. You can get input from women who have been there, done that.

The site has been around since 1988 and boasts some 17K message board postings.

Two women meet on the beach. Each is looking for her lost husband. They commisurate for a moment, then consider joining together for the search.

“What does yours look like?” asks the first woman.

“Well, he’s six foot two, weighs about 185, muscular. Dark, thick hair, big shoulders, deep blue eyes. What does yours look like?”

“Forget mine,” is the reply. “Let’s find yours!”

Insomnia. Sleep disorder. Restlessness.

Doesn’t matter what you call it, it’s terrible. Someone is saying that women who fear cancer - and that’s a lot of women - suffer from insomnia or other sleep disorders. Who could argue that? The study says you don’t have to have a breast cancer diagnosis to lose sleep. It’s enough to just be worried about the posibility. The solution?

See your doc? Get a mammogram? Do a breast exam? Makes sense.

New studies also seem to show that women in unhappy marriages have sleepless nights. I guess that’s understandable - dreaming probably isn’t something to look forward to if you’re miserable a lot of the time.

The Great Turtle Race II, a unique international sea turtle conservation event bringing together the Chinese Academy of Sciences, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) scientists, Drexel University and other academic institutions, and conservation organizations, is June 2 to June 16 to raise awareness and funds for the critically endangered leatherback turtle.

I love this story - a press release that crossed my desk. The Great Turtle Race II is the first large-scale outreach effort to the people of China by a US-based conservation NGO.
